Hello,
I'm creating a sampler with a raspberry pi4 and i'm having trouble with the USB microphone line levels from some sources (some are fine, some are WAY too low).
Awesome ! I heard a track yesterday where the performer talked to a crowd, sampled their cheer and then added layers over that - phenomenal !
I wonder what kind of microphone you are planning to use ?
Dynamic mics don't need power, just lines. Condenser mics need phantom (can be 12v, 24v or 48v depending on the mic.)
Electret mics require mic bias voltages.
I suspect that your products are what I am after, but just wanted to check?
Would the Ultra soundcard be what I am after or is it overkill? The specs sounds pretty amazingDoes it fit a pi4 ?
All our products fit a Pi 4 and 3 and probably 2 as well.
The electret mics would be supported by the cheaper stereo cards
(zero or the original) or the Ultra 2 card. You can do dynamic
mics with all of them, however keep in mind that you need gain for
microphones. Some of the soundcards will provide gain on the input
stage. The Ultra 2 card drops the gain by around 6:1 on the input
stage, through the balanced lines and keeps the gain 1:1 through
the RCA input lines.
Because of the way we design our soundcards, you can also
implement your own preamplifiers (with the exception of the
original stereo soundcard).
Many thanks
Matt
